So you've made it this far, and you're thinking, "This really doesn’t sound so bad." The insurance adjuster life may be right for you. To find out, it’s time to ask yourself some serious questions.

Are you a good listener? Can you slow down and focus on what each insured is saying, instead of just getting to the next claim?
Do you consider yourself empathetic? You will be helping people in times of need while they are stressed. Sometimes they will lash out at you. Can you put yourself in their shoes and realize it is not personal?
Do you have a high emotional intelligence? Are you able to recognize other people's emotions and your own, and are you capable of using this information to guide thinking and behavior? You’ll need to be able to calm people that are upset.
Are you able to exercise self-control? Do you like to give people a piece of your mind when they upset you, or are you good at walking away? You’ll feel like a punching bag some days, but yelling back will not make the situation any better.
Are your time management skills above par? If you're that person that handles a stressful situation by procrastinating, you will not make it in this career field. You will need to be able to walk away from time sucks like social media, non-work email, the Internet, apps, video games and instant messaging. As hard as it may be, you will have to tell people no.
If you’ve answered no to any of these questions, you should seriously consider another line of work – these skills are that important. If you answered yes to all of them and are still really interested, don't forget to subscribe to our blog and check out our blog post, How to Become an Insurance Adjuster.
